Your footage stays yours.
This page explains what the current Vid2Subs application does with media and project data. It is not an offline-only service.

What stays on your device
The original video or audio file is loaded into your browser for preview, editing, and supported browser-side export. Vid2Subs does not upload the complete original video to its transcription endpoint. The app automatically saves projects in this browser’s IndexedDB storage, including the source file, transcript, subtitle edits, settings, and imported font files. Theme and style preferences may also be stored in browser storage. These local projects are not synchronized to a Vid2Subs account.
You can delete saved projects from the Studio welcome screen. Clearing this site’s browser data also removes local projects and preferences. Browser or device cleanup may remove them without warning, so keep exports you need.
What is sent for transcription
When you generate subtitles, the browser extracts or prepares audio and sends audio chunks to the Vid2Subs Cloudflare Pages Function. The Function forwards the audio to Cloudflare Workers AI using the Whisper Large V3 Turbo model and returns transcript text and available timing information. Audio may contain personal information spoken in the recording. The selected language setting and chunk timing offset are included with each request.
Cloudflare processes these requests to provide the service. According to Cloudflare’s Workers AI data-usage documentation, Cloudflare does not use customer content to train Workers AI models without explicit consent. Review Cloudflare’s own policies for its infrastructure processing and retention practices.
Logs, third-party assets, and security
The transcription Function logs request identifiers, audio byte counts, segment counts, model names, and error messages for troubleshooting. It is not designed to log audio bytes or complete transcripts. Cloudflare may process ordinary request metadata, such as IP address and timestamps, as part of delivering and protecting the site.
Built-in font previews load Google Fonts from Google’s servers, which can receive normal browser requests and network metadata. Imported fonts stay in your local project. Contact form submissions—including the name, reply email, topic, and message you provide—are sent directly from your browser to Formspree for delivery to the site owner; they are not stored in your local Vid2Subs project. See Formspree’s privacy policy for its handling of submissions.
The app uses HTTPS when served on a secure production domain and does not expose the Cloudflare AI binding in frontend JavaScript.
